Dr Amr Saber Algarhi

Amr Algarhi is the course leader of the BSc (Honours) Economics programme at Sheffield Hallam University. Amr undertook his undergraduate work in Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University in Egypt. He holds the degrees of MA (distinction) in economics from the American University in Cairo and MSc (distinction) in economics and econometrics from the University of Exeter, where he also obtained his PhD in economics on ‘long memory time series and fractional cointegration analysis’. His main areas of research interest include • econometric theory • time series analysis • semiparametric inference • financial econometrics • macroeconomics • monetary economics • energy economics • international economics.

 

Amr is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and he taught Economics since 2007. His main teaching areas are in • econometrics • time series analysis • statistics • mathematical economics • macroeconomics. Prior to joining Sheffield Hallam University, Amr taught at University of Exeter: econometrics, statistics and mathematical economics at undergraduate level and quantitative methods of finance at graduate level. He is currently leading and teaching four modules at Sheffield Hallam University: applied econometrics and econometrics for business and economics for final year undergraduate students, and introduction to econometrics and maths for economics for first- and second-years undergraduate students.

 

Amr has supervised and guided many MSc, MBA, MRes and PhD students throughout completion of their dissertation projects. He would be happy to hear from potential PhD students working on any areas of my research interest for supervision.
